This wiki is a collaboration of students and teachers and will evolve through the school year. This is a work in progress and as such mistakes in spelling and grammar are to be expected. The purpose is to provide a community for the Fifth Grade to interact with the goals of leadership in mind.
John Quincy Adams' words describe a good leader -"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."
The philosophy behind the peer leadership program is to:provide opportunities to build characterand gain the confidence to lead.
We are excited to offer this experience for all fifth graders to experience the growth, excitement and sense of empowerment which comes from leadership. One of the most important life lessons that will in turn make kids good leaders is the awareness to "do unto others as they would have others do unto them". This reflects our Character Code and reminds the fifth graders that they are now the leaders of the Lower School. Throughout this year, my hope is that the students will be inspired to use these opportunities with a "can do" attitude, a spirit of community and the desire to inspire others.
We have gotten off to a great start with the Peer Leaders. Two students, Daniell Gallup and Isabella Pedraza, created the "The Golden Rule Rap" to support our character code. I invite you to open the link below and share what the students have been ending our morning announcement ritual with.

IDEAS FROM OUR CURRENT FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS:
When asked what leadership would look like, the most frequent answers were: being respectful, responsible and acting like a positive role model. We decided we would refer to this as the"3 R’s of the Peer Leaders." .CALENDAR for Morning Announcements
